Spruce vs HeyReach

HeyReach is the best answer in this category to one specific question: how do I send from twenty-five LinkedIn accounts without losing my mind. If that is your question, this page will probably end with us recommending them. Still, it is worth knowing what they do not do before you build a stack around it.

How the AI writes

No generative writing documented. Outreach described as multichannel campaign animation.

Positioning

All-in-one omnichannel acquisition platform with a bundled B2B contact database.

They do not have a personalisation engine

HeyReach is honest about this: message generation is delegated. You bring Clay, or SmartReach, or another enrichment layer, and pipe the output in. It works, and for teams that already run Clay it works well. It also means personalisation quality, cost and maintenance live outside the tool, usually in a Clay table that one person understands.

Spruce generates in-product, from the profile, with no second subscription and no table to maintain.

Qualification is a manual tag

In HeyReach, leads get tagged by you, by a rule you wrote in Make, or by whatever came out of Clay. There is no primitive that says "this prospect does not match, do not contact them". Routing between personas is if-then logic you assemble yourself.

Spruce treats qualification as the first step rather than a workflow you build: score the profile against the personas, drop what does not fit, write for what does.

Where HeyReach is clearly ahead

Multi-account sending at agency scale, and it is not close. The Agency plan covers 25 senders for $999, and the Unlimited plan removes the sender count altogether at $2,999, with one inbox across all of them. Spruce handles several LinkedIn accounts through linked Spruce accounts, which is a different and smaller answer to the same problem. If you manage many client accounts, this row alone may decide it.

Cost of the real stack

Compare like for like: HeyReach plus Clay plus the enrichment credits, versus Spruce alone. The headline price of a sending tool is not the price of the outreach system you end up running.

Which to choose

If you are an agency sending from many client accounts and you already own Clay, HeyReach. Spruce is for teams that want qualification and writing to happen inside one product, without assembling a pipeline.

Where they are strong

  • Multi-account sending is the point here. The Agency plan carries 25 senders, the Unlimited plan has no cap, and one inbox covers all of them
  • The most aggressive SEO in the category. Their listicle ranks #1 on several head terms
  • The Clay, Smartlead and HubSpot integrations are clean

Where they fall short

  • There is no personalisation engine of their own. Message generation is delegated to Clay or SmartReach
  • No qualification primitive at all, so leads get tagged by hand
  • Routing between personas relies on external if-then rules built in Make
  • Campaigns structure everything

Our verdict

HeyReach solves distribution at scale. Spruce solves what gets said and to whom. They are not competing for the same job, and an agency running twenty-five accounts may well want the former, as long as nobody is under the impression that it personalises anything on its own.

Frequently asked

HeyReach starts at $79. Why is Spruce more?

Because the two products stop at different points. HeyReach sends. The writing and the enrichment come from another tool, usually Clay, with its own subscription and its own credits. Compare that whole stack against Spruce alone, not the two headline prices.

Spruce is 149€ per user per month on Essentiel, or 124€ a month billed annually. If all you need is distribution across many accounts, the stack comparison will favour them.

How many invitations can I send with each?

Spruce includes 800 connection requests a month on every plan. HeyReach publishes no cap: you set the daily limit yourself for each sender, and their plans are sold by number of senders rather than by volume. This is not a case where we let you send more; it is a case where they leave the number to you and we state ours. LinkedIn applies its own ceiling on top, whichever tool you use.

HeyReach talks about AI too. Is it not the same thing?

Not quite, and they do not claim it is. HeyReach expects the message to arrive from elsewhere: you generate it in Clay or a similar layer and pipe it in. The quality, the cost and the upkeep of that generation live outside the tool, usually in a table one person understands. Spruce generates inside the product, from the profile, with no second subscription.

Can I move from HeyReach to Spruce?

You can import your prospect lists and carry on. Spruce re-reads the profiles and qualifies them before anything new goes out, so expect part of the list to be dropped. What does not transfer is your multi-account setup. If you send from fifteen client accounts today, that is the thing to weigh before moving.

When is HeyReach still the better choice?

Whenever the number of LinkedIn accounts is the constraint. An agency running client accounts at scale, a team that already owns Clay and knows how to use it, an inbox that has to be shared across many senders: that is their ground, and per-prospect writing does not make up for it.
