Skylead calls itself an AI SDR. What you actually buy is conditional sequencing across LinkedIn and email, done well, plus agency pricing that becomes hard to argue with once you are running a lot of seats. We have no quarrel with either of those. The AI SDR label is another matter.

How the AI writes
No generative writing documented. Outreach described as multichannel campaign animation.
Positioning
All-in-one omnichannel acquisition platform with a bundled B2B contact database.
Smart sequences route, they do not write
Skylead's sequences branch on behaviour. Accepted your invitation, take this path; opened the email, take that one. It is the best implementation of the idea anywhere in this category, and it removes a great deal of manual follow-up. What sits at the end of every branch, though, is copy you wrote in advance. The tool picks which of your messages to send. It does not write one for the person receiving it.
Spruce writes each message from the profile at the moment it goes out. No branch tree is needed, because there is no pre-written set for a branch to choose between.
Personalisation stops at the icebreaker
As with most tools here, the AI only touches the opening line. Everything after that is the sequence you built. An opener that lands, followed by a second message that reads like a mail merge, is a pattern prospects pick up on quickly.
No qualification gate
Skylead contacts whoever you import. No step scores a profile against your ICP before an invitation gets spent. Spruce drops the mismatches before that point, and on a scraped list that is usually a meaningful share of the file.
Where Skylead is clearly ahead
Start with the agency economics: $999 for 50 seats, $1,999 for unlimited. If your constraint is seat count rather than message quality, no amount of per-prospect AI compensates for that arithmetic. Their unification of email and LinkedIn is solid as well.
Which to choose
If you need a lot of seats and your process runs on behaviour-driven sequences, Skylead is the right buy. If the bottleneck is the quality of the messages and who receives them, we would say Spruce.
Side by side
| Spruce | Skylead | |
|---|---|---|
| Connection requests included | 800 per month, on every plan | No published cap. There is no invitation row in their plan comparison table, and the only volume they quantify is emails per month. |
| Qualification before the invitation | Every profile is scored against the personas you declared, before the invitation. The ones that do not match are dropped. | None. Whoever you import gets contacted. |
| Who writes the message | Generated per prospect, from that person's profile | You do. The smart sequence only decides which of your messages goes out next. |
| Follow-ups | Generated per prospect, within the sequence you configured | Conditional steps that branch on behaviour (accepted, opened, replied). It is the best implementation of that idea in the category and it saves real manual work. The copy is still written in advance. |
| Campaigns to build and maintain | None. There is no campaign object. | One smart sequence per segment, plus the branch tree inside it |
| Sending behaviour | Paced over the working hours you define, and skips public holidays | Delays and daily limits you configure. No holiday handling is documented. |
| Several LinkedIn accounts | Through linked Spruce accounts | One seat per account, and seats get cheap in volume: $999 for 50 seats, $1,999 for unlimited. If you run many accounts, this row is theirs outright, and no per-prospect AI changes that arithmetic. |
| After the reply | Manual setting on Essentiel. AI setting through to the booked meeting from Professionnel upwards, then closing. | A shared inbox across LinkedIn and email. The replying is yours. |
| Price | 149€ per user per month on Essentiel, or 124€ a month billed annually. 249€ Professionnel, 499€ Accompagnement. | $100 per seat per month on All-in-one. Agency at $999 for 50 seats or $1,999 for unlimited seats. |
Skylead figures taken from their public pricing page. If you are reading this more than a quarter after publication, check them yourself, because pricing pages move faster than comparison pages.
Where they are strong
- Agency pricing gets aggressive at scale
- Sequences support conditional branching
- Email and LinkedIn run in the same flow
Where they fall short
- Very little organic visibility of their own. They lean on third-party listicles
- Personalisation stops at the icebreaker
- Nothing qualifies a profile before the send
Our verdict
Skylead is a strong sequencer sold under an AI SDR label. Buy it for the sequencing and you will get your money's worth. The trouble only starts if you expect the AI to decide who gets contacted and what they are told, because at that point you are back to writing the copy yourself.
Frequently asked
Skylead is $100 a seat. How does that compare?
On a single seat the gap is real but modest: $100 against 149€ a month on Essentiel, or 124€ if you pay annually. At fifty seats the comparison falls apart. Their Agency plan runs $999 for 50 seats and $1,999 for unlimited, a per-seat cost that nothing else in the category matches, ourselves included.
How many invitations can I send with each?
Spruce includes 800 connection requests a month on every plan. Skylead publishes no invitation figure at all. Their plan table quantifies emails per month and nothing else on the LinkedIn side, so we cannot tell you that Spruce sends more, only that we state a number and they do not. LinkedIn's own daily ceiling applies either way, and no tool lifts it.
Skylead calls itself an AI SDR. Is that not the same thing?
The AI in Skylead routes. It works out which of your pre-written messages fits the branch a prospect has fallen into, and it does that better than anything else here. What it will not do is write the message for this particular person, or decide that this person should be left alone. Spruce reads the profile and writes from it, follow-ups included. Take ten prospects from the same list and compare the ten messages each tool produces. That settles it faster than any page.
Can I move my Skylead sequences over?
Your prospect lists import and your conversations carry on. Your smart sequences do not come across, because there is nothing in Spruce for them to become. You describe the personas and the offer, and the messages are generated per prospect from there. If your branch logic is the thing you are proudest of, treat that as a genuine loss rather than a migration detail.
When is Skylead still the better choice?
Two cases, and both are strong. If you are an agency or a large team where seat count drives the bill, their pricing wins and nothing on this page offsets it. And if your process depends on behavioural branching, with different paths for prospects who accept, open or ignore, they do that properly and we do not.
